My First Baking Course

I attended baking lessons for the past 4 weeks at International Center of Cake Artistry (ICCA), Kota Damansara.

It is my first time attending baking lessons and I have to say, I truly enjoyed it. I made new friends of different age groups and of course learnt quite a number of things about baking and ingredients.

So, here's just to show you the cakes that I baked throughout the course:

Day 1 : Butter Cake and Chocolate Fudge Cake

Butter Cake
All of our cakes has names on it, just so that we won't accidentally "switch" it. :P

Butter Cake with Vanilla Frosting
It's my first time frosting a cake and I definitely didn't do well.

This is how it looks inside.

Chocolate Fudge Cake
I didn't have time to frost it so brought it home plain just as it is. My family preferred it as most of them don't like frosting.

Day 2: Pound Cake and Red Velvet Cake

Pound Cake with Lemon Glaze
Sorry, the photo is very blur...

Here is a better shot of it. :)

Red Velvet cake ready to be baked!

We used a special cake pan to make this cake.

Taaaddaaa!
A heart shape in between. :D

Day 3: Carrot Cake & Pumpkin Spice Cake

Carrot Cake before frosting it.

Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting.
Yup, still not that good in decorating it.

Pumpkin Spice Cake.

Pumpkin Spice Cake with Snow White Buttercream Frosting.

Day 4: Lemon Chiffon Cake & Genoise

They are ready to be baked!

This is how it is suppose to look like...

BUT mine turn out like this...
Very sad. :(
Only one out of ten students manage to get it right. Just when you think it's easy to bake a Chiffon Cake!

Genoise with Chocolate Ganache
It's actually sponge cake with chocolate Ganache.
Frosting improved! yayyy!
Last but not least, I received a certificate for attending this course...
With our baking instructor, Sanney!

Some of the recipes are good and I would definitely use it whenever I want to bake the particular cake. As I mentioned, I enjoyed myself and I have my mum to thank for babysitting my baby every Thursday for the past 4 weeks from 10am-5pm. (She must be very glad that my course has ended. haha..) Also must thank my husband for "pushing" me to sign up for a baking course. According to my mum and hubby, my baking has improved! Since there's improvement, it meant that the time and money spent was worth it. :D

Cake.. anyone? ;D

I am still alive!

I just need to drop a post to tell everyone that I'm ok, alive and breathing (barely)!

Things has been crazy.. (I know, you must be wondering, how can a SAHM have so much going on. Trust me, don't ever say such a thing in front of any SAHM, you will get those sharp eyes glaring at you and you wish you didn't say a single word..)

I have been with my son most of the time. Doing house chores and running errands during his sleeping and non-sleeping hours. If I have to run errands out of the house, I will have to rush back just so that he can take his nap. He gets cranky when he doesn't get enough sleep and I will end up with a baby that needs to be cuddled all the time. So that's why I'm quite particular about his nap time. If not, I'll probably end up with biceps as huge as a body builders' in no time! (Carrying a 9.5kg baby for more than an hour is no joke!)

Besides that, I have developed a habit of running with the baby in the stroller whenever my mum is not comfortable to bring him out for breakfast with her. I am also waiting for him to be able to sit without support so that I can get a bicycle with a baby carrier and workout while the baby enjoys the scenery.

Besides the baby, weekends are usually dedicated to my husband and just the 3 of us as a family but somehow, we'll end up with something that requires us to get out of the house. At one point, I asked my husband if we could just spend the weekend at home. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy socializing but  at the same time, I just love my moments alone with my family. It's a true blessing.

I have to say, I am still enjoying this SAHM phase which makes it more difficult for me to head back to the corporate world. I can only pray for the best for the family. :)

Now, I just need to manage my time and ensure that I don't leave you guys guessing whether I'm alive... :P

Fresh and bigger eyes..for free! (Part 2)

I've tried the contact lens that I have recently blogged about.

Well, my hubby said I look weird in it perhaps because my eyes are naturally very small. So when it emphasizes on the iris of the eye, it makes my eyes look perfectly "round". :P

Well, I think if I had make up on, it would have helped in making my eyes look bigger. :) Overall, the lenses are very comfortable and I used it for more than 8 hours and it was still comfy. :)

Since it's a daily disposable, I am now thinking of getting some just for "special occasions".. hahaha..

Thank you so much, FreshLook Illuminate!

The boy is 6 months old!

It's time for solids!

Last week we gave him baby brown rice cereal mixed with some milk powder.

Since his Dr said that he can start taking any pureed edible plants or fruits, I fed him baby brown rice cereal with pumpkin puree today!

This is how it looks like...

He likes it! :D

There..ALL DONE!
Well, he's now a messy eater because he still can't sit up properly so he tend to end up wiping his mouth on his shirt, his bib, his arms and on the high chair table!

Oh! and he's also good at helping me out in folding the clothes.
haha.. well, he actually messes things up.
One of the many things that I allow him to explore while I'm doing housework. This way, I can keep an eye on him and fold clothes! :D
